The Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) is a national trade association founded in 1884. Open to contractors of all sizes, its membership includes everyone from the largest industrial and commercial contractors to new residential painting contractors.
Through its continued focus on its core pillars of standards, industry advocacy, and bringing the industry together, PDCA is committed to the long-term growth of those in the industry.
The benefits of membership
Sean Nash, a partner in W.W. Nash & Sons, Inc., a painting and wallcovering contractor in Richmond, Va., is active in the PDCA on a regional and national level. He says the organization offers multiple benefits for commercial painters who want to grow and improve their companies:
- Professional standards that help define job accountability and expectations.
- Learning from and networking with commercial peers from across the U.S. and Canada.
- The credibility that comes with membership.
High standards build your ability… and credibility
“The ongoing education, forums and conversations that happen between painters is unsurpassed by any other organization,” Nash says. “We have standards that have been developed by professional painters across the country to help guide the painter and the customer. These standards are the foundation of a professional paint job.”
Adhering to the high level of professional standards promoted by the PDCA will help your company win more business, he says.
“There are a lot of contractors that do a great job but don’t have the PDCA seal because they don’t know how it can benefit them,” Nash says. “That’s where we come in.”
There are many opportunities for PDCA members to connect in person and virtually throughout the year. Commercial and industrial contractors hold a Forum event each year, where they gather to learn, share ideas and best practices, and connect with peers from across the US and Canada.
In 2017, the PDCA Commercial Forum will be held Sept. 19-22 at the Rimrock Resort Hotel in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
